Sewing Dress 1. Cut out all gores and sew two backs, and two sides together. Sew one side of front gore to rest, leaving bottom open to add gusset. Add gusset to other front side (see photo 3). Sew waist shut ... but leave enough space to pull over dolls head. 2. Wrap lace around doll from waist, neck, back to waist. Glue to torso. Next fold over top edges to resemble collar, and spray with fabric stiffner to keep shape. While that is drying ..... Gather lace to resemble ruff collar and sew tight. Here is a trick <G> ... SUPERGLUE the outside edges to keep shape - no kidding! When dry, cut out triangle as shown in photo 8. Glue this around doll's neck as shown and WALA! Instant ruff. Slide up doll's dress into place, overlap open gap and glue to finish dress. Cut a few pieces of gold trim to resemble corsetted front. Let dry and go to next section. |
