Greetings!  And welcome to my 'quickie' Breyer remake tutorial.  Please keep in mind, that this horse is NOT the focal point, the doll is.  I simply wanted a
nice 'backdrop' for our lady...and a raw Breyer is a
bit 'lacking' <G>.  I create dolls, not horses...but I wanted to show you how good you can get it to look without carving the ears etc and sanding off the mane and tail.
.I used the Breyer Classic *AZUL*, warm brown acrylic paint, black viscose hair, tacky glue, scissors, tweezers and a secret FEATHER!!!
Step #1.  I put two light layers of acrylic wash on to even out the color...the weird blue/grey just didn't cut it for me.

If you take acrylic paint, dilute it, and do it light enough...you won't lose any of the shading or highlights underneath...just give the horse a nicer body color.  I painted from knees up andhead down.

Then I sealed with acrylic mat spray.
Step #2.  Put a line of glue from where bridle path starts (behind ears) until where forelock would go.  Lay a strip of viscose on it, gently press down and spray with plant mister to shape against head.
Step #3.  Time to make some pretty Eyelashes!!!  AND you won't believe what I found is the best thing to use!....FEATHERS...thats right, one of the fronds from an Ostrich.  Simply put
a small line of glue on upper eyelid, cut off a strip and press on!  You read it here first folks <G> My secret weapon.

Step #4.  Next put a
line of glue along
top of mane as
shown.  Gently spread
a thin!!! layer of
viscose across.  Press
down into glue.

Now flip over left
side to lay on right.

Let dry thoroughly!!!

Cut and trim as desired
with a scissors.  I also thin out a bit with a corsage pin -- kinda 'picking it' like you do with flat hair/curls etc. on your own head.

LAST STEP! #5  For the tail, I simply put glue over the whole stub, and gently layed tiny strips of hair on it until I was satisfied with look.  You can shape with scissors and/or a plant mister.

Well thats it!  A pretty horse, and great companion piece for that sidesaddle doll!
